Review of Heavenly by Jennifer Laurens

About the author: Jennifer Laurens.

Jennifer Laurens lives in Utah with her husband and six children.

I met someone who changed everything. Matthias. My autistic sister's guardian angel. Honest. Inspiring. Funny. Hot. And immortal. That was the problem. What could I do? I did what any other girl would do-I fell in love with him. Zoe's sister darts in front of cars. Her brother's a pothead. Her parents are so overwhelmed; they don't see Zoe lost in her broken life. Zoë escapes the only way she knows how: partying. Matthias, a guardian sent from Heaven, watches over Zoe's autistic sister. After Zoë is convinced he's legit, angel and lost girl come together in a love that changes destiny. But Heaven on Earth can't last forever.

This review is a little sketchy. I just don't really know how to put my thoughts and emotions from this book into words. All I can say is. It was probably one of the best books I have ever read. If not the best. It was so spiritual and unique and it took my mind into the world of what it would be like living with someone with a disability and how hard it would be. But no matter what Love, Courage and family would bring you through it.

When I first started reading Heavenly. I was shocked at how bad I felt for Zoe, She really craved attention from her Mother and Father. As she felt that there attention was always focused on her little sister Abria. As Abria had Autism she needed around the clock attention and that left none really for Zoe and her brother Luke. So they wanted to escape and that's what they did.

Zoe partied . . . and Luke got high. Zoe's partying caused a lot of dangerous situations and it would have been worse if Matthias hadn't have been there. Luke's drug addiction was bad, really bad. Though near the end of the book he was quiting and I was so glad when he did. I've seen first hand what it is like for people to be addicted and Jennifer Laurens portrayed the part of Luke's addiction amazingly well.

Matthias is Abria's guardian angel . . and after a close encounter with  Zoe and him touching you can guess what happened. He was then Zoe's guardian angel as well. I was ready to burst when this happened. I was so happy but also nervous and scared about what would happen to Matthias . . would he be banished from earth? Apparently not. Which was Brill! I loved each thought Zoe had about Matthias when he was with her. As he could read her thoughts, so she kept blushing and getting embarrassed it was what the book needed a bit of laughter.

Of course I have to talk about Matthias. He was calm, loving, caring, helpful, kind, responsible, mature, and HOT! He was perfect! He's the typical guy every teenage girl dreams about meeting and being with. From now on I'm keeping my eyes peeled!

The relationship between Abria and Zoe was getting stronger and stronger each day. At the end of the book I was balling my eyes out when we Abria reached for Zoe's hand and she said 'O' it was so sad. Zoe no longer felt the way she used to about her sister. All she felt now was love for Abria.

Zoe's Mother and Father seemed like ordinary parents who loved their children. Worried about them when they didn't know where they were, and even when they did.

Britt . . . .  she reminds me of a girl I used to know . . . only ever really caring and thinking about herself. So I won't talk about her much.

I really liked the unlikely friendship between Chace and Zoe, even thought they shared different feelings towards each other. It was a nice calm friendship. One everybody needs.

All in all I loved this book, and it's just an example of how amazingly talented Jennifer Laurens is. I know for a fact Penitence and Absolution will be just as good if not better.

I'd like to thank my sister who kindly let me read her copy of Heavenly. Check out her blog: Reading away the days .
