Charity Hopping Around the World

Massive thanks to Kathy @ I Am A Reader, Not A Writer & Megan @ Reading Away the Days for hosting this hop :)

When thinking of a Charity to highlight there was only one that came to mind. Assisi!

Taken from  the Assisi Website: http://www.assisi-ni.org/about/

Founded in 1995, Assisi Animal Sanctuary is Northern Ireland’s largest independent animal welfare charity, providing shelter for up to 200 companion animals including dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, rabbits and guinea pigs. Last year we rescued over 2,300 animals.

The Sanctuary operates a ‘No Kill Policy’. All animals are neutered, vaccinated, wormed and deflead and all our dogs are microchipped prior to rehoming. Assisi operates a strict rehoming criteria to ensure our rescue animals find the best possible home. Some of our cats and dogs are permanent residents, but all the others are waiting to find permanent new homes.

With operating costs of £400,000 and no government aid, Assisi is dependant on fundraising, donations and legacies. If you would like to support us, Click here for details on how you can help us.

Assisi is a charity very close to my heart for one special reason - Tiddles! 10 years ago for a birthday present my parents bought my Cat from Assisi. She was the first Cat I saw and wanted her straight away my dad had no other option but to say YES!

The pictures of the cat are of course her as I couldn't resist not showing yous. :) I obviously think she's the cutest Cat in the world but I'm biased.... :)

Interview with Ken Magee

Dark Tidings

The thief, the wizard and the computer hacker.
Way back in the medieval mists of time a thief and a disgraced wizard are thrust together in an executioner's dungeon. In the darkness, the wizard reveals an incredible secret about a legendary spell. Using this great spell, they escape their prison cell... and eventually their century.

Catapulted into the 21st century, their lives collide with a computer hacker who has plans to wipe out the world's largest bank. But dangerous people are tracking their every move... What happens when ancient magic meets the internet? One thing is sure, modern life will never be the same again.

Ken MageeWelcome to Reading A Little Bit Of Everything, How are you?
I’m fine thanks, but I wish there were 30 hours in the day so I had time to do everything I wanted. I guess that would really mess up the 24-hour clock though.
Can you tell readers a bit about yourself and your novel Dark Tidings?
My name is Ken Magee and I’m an... author. I live in Bangor, Co Down, and I’m delighted to have the chance to say a few words about my background.
I worked for many years in the computer industry in a wide variety of roles including programming, systems analysis and sales. In the middle of it all, I served in the Navy Reserve for five years... which was hard work, but fun. In 2010, I semi-retired and decided it was time to finish the book I had started many years ago (writing not reading). I would have finished it sooner, but life got in the way. It’s finished now, but I don’t think any of the original book survived the process!
Dark Tidings is a contemporary fantasy which had a good sprinkling of humour... lots of laugh out loud moments too, which I’m sure seemed strange to anyone who was watching me write the book.
What is the inspiration behind your novel?
I’m not entirely sure, but it was probably playing early computer adventure games combined with reading Terry Pratchett’s first Discworld novel, The Colour of Magic. I got a taste for the fantastic, magic and wizards, I just wish I had finished Dark Tiding’s sooner... before JK Rowling stole my limelight!

Do you recall how your interest in writing originated?
For as long as I can remember, I have had a love of words and reading. My father, in particular, was very encouraging about reading and there were always books about the house when I was young. Then there came a stage when I seemed to be able to predict how stories were going to end or, more often, I came up with a better ending. It was at that point that I thought I should be writing. I started with short stories and then eventually, I got round to writing a full length novel.
Is there a message in your novel that you want readers to grasp?
I think it was Brendan Behan who said something like “Why would there be a message? I’m a writer not a postman.” But my answer is probably “not really”... Dark Tidings is a fun fantasy, however the ending may leave the reader thinking about the state of the world... that’s all I’m saying because I don’t want to spoil it.
Are you currently working on anything new atm that you could tell us about?
I am writing the follow on to Dark Tidings, the working title is The End of the Tunnel and it should be published early in the summer. I felt the first book ended at a clean, but interesting, point, but I’m hoping there are lots of readers who’ll want to know what else could possibly happen to the main characters... and I hope they care what happens to them.
Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?
Writing is hard work, but it is fun if you love your story and your characters. If you don’t care then your readers won’t. So make sure you are passionate about what you’re doing.

Is there anything specific that you want to say to readers?
Obviously, I’d love your readers to try Dark Tidings and, if they do, to let me know what they think. It’s so important for a writer to know whether people like their work or not... that’s what gets us up in the morning.

Review: Dark Days by C.A Kunz

Dark Days (The Childe, #2)Cat Colvin:

Average Teenager?

Or something else entirely?

I received this book from the author(s) for review.

C.A Kunz have done it again!  Dark Days is an extremely formidable read, one which will have you pulling the pages for more. It is irresistibly sublime!

Dark Days starts of on the very same day The Childe finished so it leaves nothing out.

I thoroughly enjoy reading about all te characters in the novel and that's never happened before when I read a book. Each character brings their own special quality which it just utterly fantastic.

In this novel we learn more of Cats parents and get a more in-depth meaning of her friends and family.

Cat it a strong, powerful standoffish kinda girl and she is definitely an inspiring character. She will forever capture my attention in just one sentence although I have the authors to thank for writing such an amazing, brilliant character.

There is one character who I like.... Isaac. Yes! Okay! I'll admit he's meant to be the bad guy but I feel he's not really showing himself. He's a character which I feel is going to become more involved in the books. Not sure if his influence will be good or bad. But I definitely think I'll be reading more of him....

Ryan and Cat <3

Even their names make me want re-read the books! They are phenomabubble!! :)

Everything about this novel pulls you in. The characters, scenes, places, people. There no faults! Literally no faults! Normally I'd wanna change something about a novel but this novel? NO!

All in All: People say nothing or no ones is perfect but I disagree as C.A Kunz and their novels are just that! Perfect!

Never in my life have I smiled so much when reading. C.A Kunz make everything come to life..... they venture into my imagination!!

About The Authors: Carol and Adam currently reside forty-five minutes away from each other in the sunny state of Florida.

Review: The Childe by C.A Kunz

Cat Colvin

Average Teenager?

Or Something Else Entirely?

I recieved this book from the author for review.

The Childe is a phenomenal read by mother and son duo Carol and Adam Kunz, it's exquisitely tasteful with just enough bite to satisfy your taste buds.

The Childe is told mainly through character Cat Colvin. A strong minded highly likable 16 year old teenager. After attending a private school with one of her besfriends who is Julie. The pair convince their parents to let them attend the public school in Astoria where Cats older brother attends.

Although Cat loves attending the public school she can't help but realise all her problems started occurring when she made the move....

Matt, Amanda, Julie, Elle and Cat are all best friends and I enjoyed reading about their antics so much. They forgive each other for their mistakes they make and are always there for each other when things get hard. The bond between them truly runs deep where it's unbreakable.

Taylor is just fantastic!! He's protective, caring and defo seems hot! Taylor is one of my favourite male characters which is quite surprising.... Hmm...

Ryan Beckford <3 <3<3

Do I need to say more?

Cat and him have a connection from the very start time they meet and even they realise that to. Ryan is so sweet and nice. He reminds me much of "that guy" you'd have the biggest crush on in High School. He's perfect! Undeniably Perfect!

One more character I have to write about is Miss Amaya! She intrigues me so much and it's her whole nature that makes her a remarkable woman. Whether it's my love for witches which stems deep or just her personality. She is one of the most extraordinary characters I have ever read about.

There's one thing I disliked about this novel and my reviews are 100% honest..... There are to many dang male characters to choose which one is my fave!! Ryan is mine hands down ladies!

  • Red hair
  • Fail Maths
  • Wears a duplicate necklace to Cats. (Although my aunt doesn't come when I play with it)
Cat defo has got some competition!

It is hard to choose an overall favourite character in The Childe as Carol and Adam have wrote each individually unique with a different personality to suit all. Each character plays apart big or small it's sure meaningful and forgettable.

From Cats parents Sam & Rachel to Hannah or Isaac they all play apart! Even the cat Jewels ;).

All in All: Carol and Adam have wrote such a paramount novel which is simply, irresistibly divine. I won't be able to keep my hands of their upcoming novels.

About The Authors: Carol and Adam currently reside forty-five minutes away from each other in the sunny state of Florida. The Childe is their debut novel.

Mayandree Michel Cover Reveal for (The Descendants #2) Sacrifice!!

Eeeekkk!!! I loved loved loved the front cover of Betray (The Descendants #1) by Mayandree Michel so I knew the cover for the second descendants novel would be just as beautiful!

Sometimes very unlikely I go all crazy obsessive over a front cover of a book and get a teeny bit mad about it and in this case that's what has happened.

At seventeen, Cordelia is an ordinary teen with an extraordinary and frightening secret. A secret that induces vivid dreams which she not only experiences true love, but crippling fear while barely escaping with her life each night.

After a life altering event, Cordelia has an unexpected encounter with Evan, the mysterious boy from her dreams, who reveals who and what she is – a descendant of the Greek gods. At that moment everything she knows of her world is a lie, and she must leave the present and go into the past to assume the role she was put on this earth for – safeguarding her ancient empire amidst evil forces that toil hastily to destroy it.

In a race against time, Cordelia must decide if she is truly a part of this dangerous world, or risk defying the gods, and ultimately lose the boy who has put a claim on her heart.

The front cover of Betrayal captures your imagination and immediaetnlu wanted to read it. It kinda reminds me of Belle from Beauty and the Beast.... Brown Hair.... Beautiful Yellow Dress..... It's stunning as you can see.....
