Tiffany Reisz - Lexington, KY

About Tiffany:

Tiffany Reisz lives in Lexington, Kentucky with her boyfriend (a reformed book reviewer) and two cats (one good, one evil). She graduated with a B.A. in English from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky and is making both her parents and her professors proud by writing BDSM erotica under her real name. Interview:

Thank you so much for taking the time out today, How are you?
That's a personal question. I'm fine actually, but I'm learning in my French class that the French consider "How are you?" a personal question that they only ask someone they know intimately. I'm taking French so I can bone up on Kingsley (although I'd rather he boned up on me ;). Since I'm an American I don't find "How are you?" a personal question but thought your readers would enjoy some cultural insight.

1, Can you share your latest news with us?

Latest and greatest news is that book four of The Original Sinners now has a release date and cover. Check it out on Amazon.com.

2, Where do you get most of your inspiration from?

I'm going to have to quote Steve Jobs on this question. "Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn't really do it. They just saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That's because they were able to connect the experiences they've had an synthesize new things."

3, Out of all the characters you've written about which is more like you and why?

Nora has my personality but Soren has my soul. When I started writing The Siren I was a weird kinky horny student at a very conservative Methodist seminary. So this character who loved theology, loved God, and yet had to behave himself sexually due to his conservative milieu resonated with me. Soren is my favorite character to write.

4, Are any of your characters experiences based on your own?

Lots of them. The question is...which ones?

5, Do you have a motto for when your writing?

"Neither God nor man is going to tell me what to write." James T. Ferrell. I love this quote because so many people have told me the content of my books is just too shocking and scandalous. You can't write a romance with underage sex in it! You can't have a female Dominant as your leading lady! You can't have REAL S&M that actually hurts people in your BDSM book! You can't have your leading lady have sex with more than one man and NOT feel guilty about it! Yeah, no. All those supposed strikes against my series is the reason why my fans love them. And no, my editor has never once edited for content. She lets me get away with anything because she understands I'm trying to accurately depict the world of sex and BDSM and not an idealized Disneyfied version of it.
6, Which song best describes your personality?

I'm rather fond of Adam Ant's "Goody Two Shoes." I don't drink, don't smoke...must be something inside.

7, Your writing in unlike any authors I've ever read, I love it! Why do you think readers are addicted to your novels?

My books are unusual. I don't write stories other people are writing. Name one other contemporary writer of Gothics. Can you? You can rattle off at least five romance writers writing Billionaire playboys but who else has an Alpha Male who's also a Jesuit priest or a bisexual male Switch who loves taking pain as much as he loves giving it (he's French, bien sur). Who else is writing a mix of horror and romance with wicked clergymen, sinister plots, secret societies, incestuous siblings (all classic traits of Gothic fiction)? I think I give readers something they can't find anywhere else.
8, What advice would you give to aspiring authors?

Write.
9, Is there anything I haven't asked which you wish I had?

No one has asked me what my favorite kind of cookie is. Chocolate chip, thank you.

10, What novel did you do the most research for?

The Priest which I haven't written yet. It's book five in the series and the first prequel. Soren is a young Jesuit in that book and imparts a lot of Jesuit wisdom onto young Nora.
BDSM:
1, What's your view on BDSM? Like it. Love it. Want some more of it.
2, Have you ever tried it? What was your experience? Saying I've tried BDSM is like saying I've tried food.

3, What is your favourite book to read in that genre? Best BDSM book I've read is probably Kushiel's Dart by Jacqueline Carey or The Story of O by Pauline Reage.
4, Dominant or Submissive? Switch.
5, Giver or Receiver? Power bottom.
6, Naughty or Nice? They're the same thing in my world.

Omg! I love her! I absolutely love her!!! I am so over crazyily obsessed with her novels I don't know how I'd honestly survive without them! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU X100000 FOR TAKING THE TIME OUT TO ANSWER QUESTIONS!!! :d

The 4th and final book in The Original Sinner's (The Mistress) is released 30 July 2013. Pre-Order your copy now!! Omg! I know I have! ;)
