Sarah Louise Smith is here today to tell us all about her new book Amy and Zach and why her favourite at the moment is Paige Toon! :)
1, Can you tell one fact about yourself we can't find online?
I love giraffes. They're just lovely with their long necks, and long eyelashes. They're kind of goofy and cute. I have a few wooden ones in my home and I always stare at them for ages whenever I visit the zoo.
2, Can you share your latest book news?
|(Click image to go to Amazon.co.uk)|
My novel Amy & Zach was just published a few months ago. My next novel, Izzy's Cold Feet, is almost ready for publication and should be out in the summer.
3, What's your writing journey been like so far?
I've been writing since I can remember. For about 10 years I kept attempting to write a novel but found it hard to actually get one finished. I'd write about 50% and then get bored and start something new. But somehow, with a lot of encouragement from my husband, I worked hard and managed to complete Amy & Zach. Being offered a publishing contract was a dream come true for me and it's been a lot of fun.
4, Have you always wanted to be an author? Or have you and other career wants?
I've always loved writing, but as a kid I wanted to be an actress, a teacher, a popstar, a vet...many different things. As an adult, become a published author was my dream and luckily for me it came true.
5, Who is your favourite author and why?
My favourite right now is Paige Toon because I've recently discovered her and read all of her novels, each one is fab with lots of funny moments, romantic moments, sad moments. Each story is a fun rollercoaster with believable characters and well written. I am also a huge Jane Austen fan and have loved many other authors and books...
6, Where do you get most of your inspiration from?
I'm not sure. I read a lot of chick-lit and watch a lot of chick-flicks so I guess they all provide little snippets of inspiration. I often come up with ideas in the least likely places; on the train or in a meeting.
7, Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?
Just keep writing. Write, write, write. It takes time and dedication, but you must not stop writing!
8, Where is your favourite place to read/write?
Either in bed or on the sofa, with some peace and quiet, with my cat or dog sitting beside me.
9, What has been your most rewarding experience as an author?
Receiving tweets and emails from people who have ready Amy & Zach and enjoyed it has been wonderful. It's so nice to know that others have enjoyed what you've written. I'm so grateful to all those who have contacted me with kind messages.
10, Is there anything I haven't asked which you wish I had?
Ha, ha! No. Only "where can I buy your book?" Just kidding ;)
