In May... then in June!

Heellloooo!

May was an amazing month for Reading A Little Bit of Everything! I've interviewed, had guest posted  some of the most incredible authors and even reviewed some of the BEST books of this year! (so far!) This month was also themed *Fiction Month* so all month long I'v been highlighting my favourite authors and books everyday! and I think it's been awesome! There have also been quite a few good giveaways to that are going on so instead of having to search the whole blog for all the posts why not have a good gawk below instead! I've everything all layed out easily into separate wee bits! :)

This month I've:

Waow! As you can see May was quite an incredible month wouldn't you agree? I mean look at who I've interviewed! Yikes! How can I make June even better... (If it's possible?) Nothing can compare close to how amazing May was on the blog but... maybe.. just maybe.. it may be quite awesome to!?? Hmm.... Any ideas?? ;)

I've actually something planned for June and it's themed AGAIN! I love my themed months don't I? It's called Smut Review Fest! Everyday there is going to be an author spotlight and three reviews of books by that author! Sounds awesome doesn't it? There are also a few release blitz scheduled to! It's called.... 20 Days of Smut! Check it out here: http://readinglittlebitofeverything.blogspot.co.uk/p/smut-review-fest.html

I'll be reviewing books by the likes of Lucy Felthouse, KD Grace, Victoria Blisse, Kay Jaybee, Tabitha Rayne & MORE!

NOT ONLY THAT but.. the review fest will not last the whole month *sob* because.. I won't be here on the 21... 22... or the 23... or even the 24! Nopes.. on the 22 June I'll be in the same room as a few of those authors mentioned above! Yep! Not even fibbing! ;) That's why this month is SMUT month as I'm going to Scarborough! FOR Smut by the Sea! Woohoo!! (I'm already practising not to yell)

SO.. what do you think of May? Do you have any tips on how I can make June or future months better? (If possible) OR do you have any "theme" ideas? I'm thinking maybe in July a Gay Pride Week... celebrating books and authors that write about f/f or m/m OR even.. for more fun! Threesomes! :D What ya think?

About the book:

Four years ago, Jocelyn left her tragic past behind in the States and started over in Scotland, burying her grief, ignoring her demons, and forging ahead without attachments. Braden Carmichael is used to getting what he wants, and he's determined to get Jocelyn into his bed. Knowing how skittish she is about entering a relationship, Braden proposes an arrangement that will satisfy their intense attraction without any strings attached.
But after an intrigued Jocelyn accepts, she realises that Braden won't be satisfied with just mind-blowing passion. The stubborn Scotsman is intent on truly knowing her . . . down to the very soul.
Review:

On Dublin Street heart wrenching, sexy, exhilarating, addictive and completely unforgettable! Not only did I want to continue reading I felt that I needed to carry on reading! I was undoubtedly lost in the authors grasp with this novel.

There wasn't any wondering if I'll like this book or any thoughts 'when is this scene going to end?' 'cause all I thought about was reading the next page.

Braden and Jocelyn are one of those couples where I literally get frustrated with is something didn't go my way! I also caught myself in tears quite a few times which was so out of the ordinary for me.

I loved everything about all the characters mentioned in this book but very rarely do I find a female character who I can relate to so much or want to end up happy. I absolutely loved Jocelyn's strength, and belief in the end of how much she's learned to cope in her life. It was just astonishing how much I felt for this character.

Braden was not how I thought he was going to be which made me love his character even more. He's amazing, sexy, sensitive, supportive and sounds super H.O.T.! :D

The secondary characters Ellie (Braden's little sister-Jocelyn's housemate) and Adam (Braden's Best-Friend) were also a major part of why I loved this book. They both played an amazing part in the story coming together.

I could have wished for a better ending.... I really couldn't have! Samantha Young is amazing.... her writing is utterly fantastic..

They become the Super Spies and start their own investigation. The Super Spies can’t understand why anyone would want to murder the “Cat Lady” until they start digging into her past and discover a horrible crime that happened thirty years ago. They uncover a connection between the two crimes and attempt to bring this information to the police, only to be reprimanded for meddling in the investigation. Not only are the girls upset by the admonition, but they also struggle with the fact that their exuberant investigating could provide a legal loophole allowing the killer to go free. Chapter One

What do you mean you lost them?” Sarah Cole fidgeted as she waited for Agent Gray to answer. I cant believe it! He lost the only clue to our parents location. What is wrong with this picture? Agitated, Sarah shifted in her seat and chewed on her lip. She was uncomfortable in the folding chair and rearranged her petite frame so she wouldnt feel the cold metal against her bare legs. Shivering, she glanced around the all-too-familiar room.
The gray cement block walls no longer gave her that creepy, closed-in feeling shed used to get when she first came to the interrogation rooms. She remembered the first time shed been in that tiny space. It had been the day shed discovered the Cat Ladys dead body. Sarah shuddered at the memory and then smiled when she remembered forming the Super Spies and bringing the Cat Lady Killer to justice. Glancing around the room again, she realized shed been in this room quite a bit these last few weeks, not only during the Cat Lady investigation, but the High School Bomber investigation as well. Shivering again, Sarah rubbed her arms but she really wasnt cold. Her mind filled with the image of the bomber the Super Spies had helped apprehend just a week earlier.
Wow! Was it just last week?
She tugged at a lock of her honey colored hair, then brushed it away with an impatient hand. She sighed and glanced at her younger sister. Lacey sat beside her with her legs crossed, jiggling her foot at such a rapid rate it seemed like her whole body was electrified. She caught Sarahs eye and for a moment her eyes glittered like emeralds before she shifted her gaze to Aunt June, who had placed her hand on Laceys leg in what appeared to be an attempt to quiet her. Sarah shifted in her chair and sighed again. Are we ever going to find Mom and Dad?
A commotion out in the hall drew everyones attention. Sarah leaned forward and craned her neck to see what was happening.

Chief, weve got an OD!” An officer yelled.

What?” Chief Johnson yelled as he rushed by. “An OD on what? Give me the details.”

The parents found their son unconscious in his room this morning, and an empty bottle of prescription medication on his bedside table.”

What was it?” Chief Johnson asked.

Its Myodine.”

Who makes it?”

Ah… Piper Drugs.”

Call Poison Control with the name and manufacturer and ask them what to do about an overdose. Instruct the parents to get their son to the hospital pronto,” Chief Johnson ordered.

Theyve brought him here.”
What?” Chief Johnson exclaimed.

The sound of policemen rushing through the hall pulled Sarah and her sister out of their seats. They hurried to the door, unable to stifle their curiosity. Peering down the corridor, Sarah caught a glimpse of a young man sagging between two officers as they desperately tried to keep him on his feet. One officer gently slapped his face while the other officers held him up. The young man blinked and then gagged, puking on the officer in front of him.
The rancid stench of fresh vomit filled the air. While plugging her nose, Sarah ducked back inside the interrogation room, followed by her sister. Sarah closed the door, hoping it would keep the smell from penetrating the room.

Did you hear that, Lace? Piper Drugs! Thats the company Dad works for,” Sarah whispered in her sisters ear before proceeding back to her seat.

Lacey opened her mouth to speak, but closed it when Agent Gray cleared his throat and motioned for them to sit down.
He continued his conversation as if they hadnt been interrupted. We were on our way to the location of the ping… but before we got there it disappeared.”

So, what does that mean? Did you find our parents or what?” Sarah blurted out as she sat down. She stared into Agent Grays icy blue eyes, trying to read his mind.

Author Interview:

~ Can you share with us your latest or future book/author news?
I have a new novel coming out on 6th June entitled The Summer Wedding. It’s a romantic romp that takes four friends from the day they first meet at university in the 90s to the modern day when a big wedding threatens to unearth old secrets and long lost loves. Action moves between the Chilterns and Andalucia, taking in LA and the Seregeti, so I’m globe-trotting a bit more than usual, which was a great treat. I’m also currently working on a book that will come out next year, as yet untitled, about a dotcom billionaire who ruffles local feathers when he buys an old Herefordshire estate.

(Pre-order your copy in paperback HERE and Kindle HERE.)

~ Where did your interest in writing originate?
I’ve always been an avid reader who discovered from an early age that her favourite writers simply can’t write fast enough – which in fairness to them would mean producing one novel a week – so I’ve always supplemented the gaps with my own creations; as a child, this meant I produced hundreds of hand-illustrated pony books written in red Silvine exercise books, and in my twenties it was racy, witty escapism. To my delight, the latter led to a full-time career as a writer.

~ Out of the novels you've wrote which one do you hold closest to your heart and why?

I have enormous affection for all my characters – letting them go is like saying farewell to old friends – and the settings are just as close to my heart, which is probably why I often bring favourites back if I can. Of all my books, I probably enjoyed writing Tongue in Cheek most; I loved the heightened melodrama and black comedy in it, and the characters and setting were already familiar, making them huge fun to develop more.

~ What advice would you give to aspiring authors?
Write what you would love to read, believe in your characters and try to get to the end of their story, however unmotivated you may feel by the muddle in the middle (and we all do!). Then enjoy the editing – it really can be the best bit, and it’s where some of the most creative writing moments happen.

~ Is there anything specific you'd like to say to readers?
I’m enormously grateful for the enthusiasm and loyalty that so many readers have shown me over the years. I long to be like those super-efficient authors who hammer out 2500 words each morning and then spend the afternoons tweeting from a sun lounger, but I’m a very chaotic, instinctive writer who lives and breathes the books I write for months on end, barely coming up for air most days. Knowing there’s such an enthusiastic crowd waiting to read them is an enormous motivation and makes it a great joy when those breakthrough moments come at two in the morning.

Favourites:
Book: Because I read so fast, and reread all the best ones again, I adore really long novels (I'm on my third copy of both The Thorn Birds and Riders), and I love book series most of all. I adored the H E Bates Darling Buds novels as teenager and still read them again often, along with Armistead Maupin’s Tales of the City...and I could devour M C Beaton’s Agatha Raisin books on a one-a-day basis.
Movie: Out of Africa – I laugh and cry as soon as I hear the music now, and the fact it’s based on a true story makes it all the more wonderful.

Dessert: Lemon Posset – the name always makes me laugh, and it’s absolutely delicious.

About the book:

Angel’s life was one big, long, dream come true. Young, beautiful, sexy, and in charge of Desires—the best sex club in the country. An entire staff of delicious men and delectable women was at her beck and call, ready to indulge her every carnal whim.

When vulnerable abuse survivor Stacie Clifford tentatively approached Desires for help getting her sexual confidence back, Angel had no qualms about assigning her secret favourite Dan McVeigh as her tutor. Gentle and sweet, Dan was just what Stacie needed.
Angel hadn’t realized just how powerful her suppressed feelings for Dan were until she noticed Dan and Stacie were getting on a little too well. Despite Dan’s insistence that all was strictly professional, maybe it was time to persuade Stacie that Desires was not for her.

Just how far would Angel go to keep Dan to herself?

Author Interview:

~ Can you tell readers a little about your Desires series?
The Desires series is based around an exclusive sex club called Desires, where guests get to explore their sexual fantasies without being judged and is fully consensual acts without any judgments. The story takes you on the journey of Dan who works at the establishment and Stacie guest re-building her life sexually and their time at the club and the impacts it has on their relationship, with someone constantly lurking in the background coursing heartbreak.

~ How were you inspired to write it?

I had always wanted to write about a sex-club, fantasy, exploring and adventures of sexual fantasies, while having plenty of fun, without being judged. A club where you can be who you want to be with consensual acts, and to set up contracts stopping workers and guests from the emotional attachment, keeping it strictly professional. The first initial idea was of writing about a sex worker, but I felt that would be far to repetitive, and then came the idea about a guest. I longed to make Stacie a character to whom your heart went out too, with all her past events, but longed to change and re-gain her life back. Then arrived the idea of Dan, and how much he would impact on Stacie and her time being at the club.

~ Who designed the front cover?

Secret Cravings Publishing book artist Dawne Dominique, she is amazing.

~ Why should we read it?

If you like reading heart-warming, damsel in distress and you long to put your arms around a character, Stacie is it. The relationship between Stacie and Dan that generates is breathtaking and how you cave for them to get together. A soppy love story, with compassion and sorrow comes with this book, it makes you laugh and cry and keeps you gripped, longing to know what happens.

~ Is there anything you'd like to say to readers?

I hope you enjoy reading the book as much as I loved putting it together. And thank you for taking the time to read the interview and hopefully purchase the books and loose yourself in the characters the way I did.

What do you think of the series? Have you read it? I'm currently reading the first book and LOVING it!! :)

A massive thanks to the author who took the time out of her schedule to answer some questions! Ally Blakes novels are additively romantic and anyone who reads them just want to read more! (That's me anyways)

About the author:

Australian writer Ally Blake is a redhead, a footy fan, a devotee of the language of Aaron Sorkin; she is addicted to stationery and M&Ms, weak in the face of Italians and married to a spectacular and ever-patient man, mum to three beings of pure delight, and a firm believer in love, luck, and fairies. She is also a best-selling author with more than twenty-five fun, flirty romance novels under her belt with over three million copies of her books sold worldwide. Don't forget to check out Twitter.

Interview:

~ Can you share with readers your latest book/author news?

My latest release is honest to goodness one of my favourite books ever! WHEN HONEY GOT MARRIED... is an anthology written alongside fabulous bestselling authors Kimberly Lang, Anna Cleary and Kelly Hunter and we had THE best fun writing the thing.

Imagine a huge society plantation wedding in Louisiana, then throw in a bride on the edge, a lot of honeysuckle and a cast of characters who have no idea what's about to hit them! Love is in the air...will anyone be able to resist?

~ What's been the highlight of your writing journey?
Gosh! Too many to name. Selling my first book, seeing my first cover, holding my first book in my hands. Now, twenty-five books later, it's still a total thrill!

~ Where do you get most of your inspiration from?
All over the place. A line in a song, an overheard conversation, something funny that's happened to me. Some ideas truly spring from dreams. Many from photos of Joe Manganiello ;)

(I do not own image)

~ What is it you like about writing romance?
I've thought about writing other things - murder mysteries, shoot 'em up capers, young adult fantast - I have folders full of ideas! But honestly, put any of that against the chance to write about two people falling in love and there's just no choice!

~ Who is your favourite author and why?
For all time would be Dick Francis. I love his style, his cadence, I ADORE his heroes. I've read every book and could read them all again tomorrow. I'm currently loving Kristan Higgins books; joyous, delightful, funny, goofy, wonderful warm stories all.

~ What do you have in store for readers in the future? Any future releases?

After WHEN HONEY GOT MARRIED... I have a Harlequin KISS coming this August calledFAKING IT TO MAKING IT. It's the story of Nate, the best mate of the hero in my last book THE SECRET WEDDING DRESS. The guy was so smart, so wry, so earnest, so gorgeous, and so amused by his friend's tumble into love, I had no choice but to bowl Nate over just the same.

~ What's your advice for aspiring authors?
Write write write! Like anything the more you do it, the better you get. And the more you write, the closer you get to finding your voice, your groove, which is the most precious writing tool you have. Nobody in the world sees the world the way you do. Celebrate that, nourish it, unleash it!

~ Is there anything specific you'd like to say to readers?
Keep up the good work!

This or that?
Book store or book site?

Book sites...though sadly. The hours I've spent running my fingers along spines of books in Borders just imagining what delights awaited inside those covers... Alas it's a whole new world out there!

Paperback or eReader?

I read both. Though far more on my ereader these days. The convenience is wonderful, the ability to flit from the end of one book and straight into the next a magical portal for all we voracious readers out there!

Chocolate or Candy?

Chocolate!!! Specifically M&MS. Mmmmm.......

(I do not own image)

Night or day?

Night. Quiet, shadows, secrets, hush, mystery, sleep, dreams... And the kids are finally in bed!

Book or Film?

Oooooh... Here I honestly can't pick. I simply love a good story, no matter the medium. Tell me over a coffee and I'd be as enchanted by it as I would watching it on TV, or reading it in a magazine. I'll take my delight anywhere I can get it!
