A Look Back on 2016

I'm sure we can all agree that 2016 has been quite a describable year. There has been so much that has happened all over the world that sometimes it was hard to believe it was real but to name everything, well.. that'd take up some time so I've decided to reflect on what my 2016 has been like and hope that there will be love and happiness to everyone in the rest of the year ahead.

First things first, I GOT ENGAGED (Yes I am NOT going in date order of my year)! My partner proposed on Christmas Eve, I won't spill details on how he asked but lets just say it was personal, intimate and definitely the perfect way. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world that I get to keep him.. and continue to annoy him and drag him shopping as it just makes me love him even more.

In July I went away to Edinburgh for a few days and it was a refreshing time for both my partner and I to enjoy being together. We both had an incredible time and would love to go back.

I was in Edinburgh to attend the RARE16 Bookish event and had the best time ever. From meeting Anna Todd, Amy Plum, Toni Aleo, Samantha Young AND Jennifer L. Armentrout it was a weekend that dreams came true.

I started my book blog for this very reason, to meet the brains and imaginations behind my favourite books and for Samantha Young and Jennifer L. Armentrout to recognise me (mostly on my stalking them alot) I was ecstatic. They are two of my favourite authors and I cannot believe that I got to spend time with both of them in the same room..

As soon as I walked into the hall and saw Jennifer.. I am not ashamed to say I cried (a little) and embarrassingly wearing my new non-waterproof mascara had noticeable panda eyes for the next three hours.. the worst part though? I was on my own so had no one to tell me.. in all pictures it is visable.. have a look and see! (Can I blame Jennifer for making me so happy and emotional that I cried and got panda eyes?)

Cecelia Ahern returned to Easons Belfast to sign copies of her latest book Lyrebird so ofcourse my sister Megan and I had to attend that! After a few kind gentlemen let me bunk the que to join Megan we were excited to once again a meet one of our favourite authors and to this time get a picture of the three of us.

My highlights of the day include Cecelia Ahern complimenting my dress, recognising my blog and also knowing who I was when my sister mentioned I stalk her on Twitter! (Which is not true and thankfully she agreed) Read more about the signing PLUS how Megan and I got nabbed by a reporter HERE.

Something which shaped my 2016 was the loss of my pet cat Tiddles who I featured quite alot on my Instagram. It was heartbreaking having to let her go although on her last day I knew in my heart that I couldn't let her be in any pain but also not to be selfish to keep her for my benefit so I made the difficult decision to let her go to sleep with the advice from the vet as she sadly couldn't stand. Tiddles was 18, she had been my cat from aged 2 and having her in mine including my families life all those years, fellow pet owners will understand how much off a gap animals leave behind.

On 09/07/00 my dad took me to pick a cat from Assisi Animal Rescue Sanctuary for my 6th birthday, I chose Tiddles, the quiet, sleepy, purring cat on her bed and on 04/10/16 my dad was with me as we said goodbye.

So much more happened in 2016 although the four above events that occurred are ones I wanted to talk about. Every new year people make resolutions and I have always been someone who did but not this year. I never stick to the resolutions I make or end up forgetting what they are which is why this year I am going to focus on becoming the best version of myself and continue to grow in strength, trust my instincts more and to talk! Talking is something which everyone should do.

Things I'm looking forward to this year:
  • My brothers wedding!
  • My dads wedding!
  • A holiday with my Fiancé
  • Spring Fashion & Shopping
  • Trying to convince my other half that a bookish wedding would be AMAZING!
  • Discovering new authors
  • #PLLEndGame OMG who is A??
  • Fifty Shades Darker movie
  • Beauty and the Beast movie
