100% Graham!

100% Graham!

Some of the following information was provided via http://thebigshot.co.uk.

I <3 Graham Norton... Anyone who knows me knows I never miss an episode of his show and Eurovision is a year tradition with me and my sister to get junk food and stay in and to stay in and watch it! No matter what we ALWAYS make time for it! I mean.... you love to hate it right?

Ahead of publication of his new memoir, The Life and Loves of a He-Devil, on October 23, Graham wants to know what it is that makes you who you are and how much of a he-devil you are.

Take part in the quiz and be in with a chance to meet Graham when he will be appearing at various theatres around the UK in October and November, talking about his book and life. Find details on where he is appearing here.

The Life and Loves of a He-Devil is Graham's funny and honest memoir on the theme of love. As he shows, it's really the things you love that define who you are. And so Graham tells his story from childhood to present day, describing just what and who he loved - and sometimes lost - as a child, and his new loves and obsessions - big and small - as he's grown older.Graham tells his life and loves with characteristic humour and outrageous candour. You can pre-order The Life and Loves of a He-Devil now from Amazon.

Congratulations you are a 100% match with Graham and officially a He-Devil!
You and Graham are like peas in a pod. You share a love for all the same things in life from dogs to musical icons and New York city. It goes without saying that you will absolutely love Graham's new memoir, out this October, so make sure to get your hands on a copy as soon as you can! http://amzn.to/1uywEdVin the UK or http://bit.ly/1nYz2qB in Australia.

What do you think of the book? Will you be purchasing it? I'm hoping Santa will bring me a copy! :D

Alana really couldn’t believe how flat Holland was. She’d been told by many people, but somehow, she still wasn’t expecting a place that made Cambridgeshire look like the Peak District. Her view from the train as she travelled from Schiphol airport to Amsterdam’s Centraal Station was unimpeded. Not so much as a hillock was visible.

And now, here she was, standing outside the station with crowds milling around her. A mixture of tourists, businesspeople and natives. She herself was a combination of two of those groups—she was here on business, but she’d deliberately extended her trip so she could spend a couple of days exploring the city. She had a day either side of her meeting, the boring part a filling to a sightseeing sandwich. Though, despite the boring tag, the meeting definitely wasn’t a bad thing, it was an appointment to cross the ts and dot the is on a very lucrative deal—certainly the trip was worthwhile.

After watching the insanity for another minute or so, she began to head away from the station, wheeling her small case along with her. Already armed with a guidebook and a decent map, she knew where she was going. Her map-reading skills were excellent, and she made the short walk to her hotel in less than twenty minutes. Anywhere else, she’d have gotten a cab, but it appeared they were a rare commodity in this city.

She’d checked in, dumped her bags and freshened up within another ten minutes, and was back on the street.

An online acquaintance had sent her a bunch of information for her trip—about the best museums, interesting things to see that might not be in guidebooks, and details on transport. It appeared that Amsterdam was unlike London, Paris and Rome, in as much as it had trams as its preferred mode of transport, rather than underground trains. Only one Metro line ran through the city, north-to-south. Everywhere else was utterly dependent on trams, bikes and being on foot.

And fuck, there were a lot of bikes. They zipped here, there and everywhere, not always staying where they were supposed to be, it seemed. The slim Dutch people atop the bikes were oblivious, just concentrating on getting where they were going.

Alana searched for the nearest tram stop, and quickly discovered she needed to be on the other side of the road to head in the right direction.

Crossing the road was a chore in itself. A dice with death. She’d thought Rome’s motorists were insane, but at least they were fairly predictable. Here, she was faced with crossing a road that held a cycle path, a tram line and a lane for cars. Shifting down the pavement, she stood at the conveniently placed crossing. It still didn’t make things much easier, but at least she could mingle in with the crowd. Traffic was much more likely to stop if it was going to hit a crowd of people than a single pedestrian. Right?

By some miracle, she reached the opposite pavement unscathed—except for her nerves, which were shot—and approached the tram stop. As if by magic, a tram arrived, and it was the correct number. Things were looking up.

After a few minutes, she realised that public transport in Amsterdam was nowhere near as easy to navigate as in the other major cities she was familiar with. There, their Tube or Metro stations always had plenty of large, unmissable signs telling you where you were. Piccadilly Circus, Anvers, Piramide. Here, it seemed you were left to your own devices. There were announcements on board the tram, but they were in Dutch—a language which she knew very little of—incredibly muffled, and pretty much drowned out by the sound of the tram’s motion and its passengers.

1, Is the Lux series really really ending this August? Is there anything you're going to miss about writing the series or will we ever see them again so you won't... :)

Yes, Opposition is the final book in the Lux Series.  I'm definitely going to miss writing about Katy and Daemon, but I'm happy with the ending to the series.  I hope that readers are happy with it too!

2, You brought us the obsessive and addictive Lux and Covenant series... Are you planning on writing a new series for readers to sink their teeth into? What's next for you?

The Dark Elements Series is another one of my YA series featuring gargoyles and demons.  The second book, Stone Cold Touch, releases in October.

3, What advice would you give to aspiring authors?

I always give the same advice to aspiring authors.  You should write what you want to write, and not what you think you need to write.  And write every day!

Katy knows the world changed the night the Luxen came. She can't believe Daemon welcomed his race or stood by as his kind threatened to obliterate every last human and hybrid on Earth. But the lines between good and bad have blurred, and love has become an emotion that could destroy her—could destroy them all. Daemon will do anything to save those he loves, even if it means betrayal. They must team with an unlikely enemy if there is any chance of surviving the invasion. But when it quickly becomes impossible to tell friend from foe, and the world is crumbling around them, they may lose everything— even what they cherish most—to ensure the survival of their friends…and mankind. War has come to Earth. And no matter the outcome, the future will never be the same for those left standing.

I still stared at Daemon, completely aware that everyone else except him was watching me. Closely.

But why wouldn’t he look at me? A razor-sharp panic clawed at my insides.

No. Thiscouldn’t be happening. No way.My body was moving before I even knew what I was doing. From the corner of my eye, I saw Dee shake her head and one of the Luxen males step forward, but I was propelled by an inherent need to prove that my worst fears were not coming true. After all, he’d healed me, but then I thought of what Dee had said, of how Dee had behaved with me.

What if Daemon was like her? Turned into something so foreign and cold? He would’ve healed me just to make sure he was okay. I still didn’t stop.
Please, I thought over and over again. Please. Please. Please. On shaky legs, I crossed the long room, and even thoughDaemon hadn’t seemed to even acknowledge my existence, I walked right up to him, my hands trembling as I placed them on his chest.

“Daemon?” I whispered, voice thick. His head whipped around, and he was suddenly staring down at me. Our gazes collided once more, and for a second I saw something so raw, so painful in those beautiful eyes. And then his large hands wrapped around my upper arms.

The contact seared through the shirt I wore, branding my skin, and I thought—I expected—that he would pull me against him, that he would embrace me, and even though nothing would be all right, it would be better. Daemon’s hands spasmed around my arms, and I sucked in an unsteady breath. His eyes flashed an intense green as he physically lifted me away from him, setting me back down a good foot back. I stared at him, something deep in my chest cracking. “Daemon?” He said nothing as he let go, one finger at a time, it seemed, and his hands slid off my arms. He stepped back, returning his attention to the man behind the desk. “So . . . awkward,” murmured the redhead, smirking.

I was rooted to the spot in which I stood, the sting of rejection burning through my skin, shredding my insides like I was nothing more than papier-mâché. “I think someone was expecting more of a reunion,” the Luxen male behind the desk said, his voice ringing with amusement. “What do you think, Daemon?” One shoulder rose in a negligent shrug. “I don’t think anything.” My mouth opened, but there were no words. His voice, his tone, wasn’t like his sister’s, but like it had been when we first met. He used to speak to me with barely leashed annoyance, where a thin veil of tolerance dripped from every word. The rift in my chest deepened.

For the hundredth time since the Luxen arrived, SergeantDasher’s warning came back to me. What side would Daemon and his family stand on? A shudder worked its way down my spine. I wrapped my arms around myself, unable to truly process what had just happened. “And you?” the man asked. When no one answered, he tried again. “Katy?” I was forced to look at him, and I wanted to shrink back from his stare. “What?” I was beyond caring that my voice broke on that one word. The man smiled as he walked around the desk. My gaze flickered over to Daemon as he shifted, drawing the attention of the beautiful redhead. “Were you expecting a more personal greeting?” he asked.

“Perhaps something more intimate?” I had no idea how to answer. I felt like I’d fallen into the rabbit hole, and warnings were firing off left and right. Something primal inside me recognized that I was surrounded by predators.

Being Indie: Sarah Billington (Q&A)

Being Indie: Sarah Billington (Q&A)

About the author:

Sarah Billington is an Australian writer and editor who likes to write stories with love, laughs, suspense and zombies. Sometimes all in the same story. Her favouritest thing to write about are those horrendously awkward moments that come with being a teenager. Or a human being. Sarah was extremely accident-prone and klutzy as a kid and teen, so her cup runneth over with experiences of horrendously awkward moments to draw from in her writing. Thankfully, she has grown out of her klutziness. Mostly. She is, however, still an embarrassment.

She loves a variety of random things, which include Swing Dancing, Ice Hockey, Roller Derby and is a bit obsessive about paranormal investigation shows and channel E!.

Author Links:

1, Can you tell readers a bit about yourself?
I'm an Australian young adult fiction author who is somewhat obsessed with pop culture and paranormal phenomena. I love writing about teens being awkward, testing the waters, making mistakes and learning from them - because that's what teenagehood is all about, isn't it?

2, How do you go from writing "sassy to scary?"
I love watching teen comedies, but I also love watching horror movies. It makes sense to me that I'd be interested in writing both, as well. Though sometimes my horror stories end up a bit too funny and I have to reign them in. :)

3, Which of your books has been the most challenging to write?
My zombie novel, Dark Zones. It hasn't been released yet. I'm about 80% through it, and I've been working on it for over two years, now. I think it's a great premise, people I brainstorm with think it's a great premise, but for some reason that last 20% is alluding me.

4, What has your writing journey been like? Why did you decide to take the Indie route?
I  got good at receiving rejections and revise and resubmit requests from publishers through my agent a couple of years ago, but I had a book that I was really passionate about - The Kiss Off - that my then agent didn't think they could sell, so when the self-publishing boom started three years ago and it became clear that independent authors could legitimately make an income from their writing on a scale that simply hadn't been possible prior to ebooks, I changed tactics. I was studying a Bachelor of Writing & Publishing at the time and we had to do a research project on a form of digital publishing. It was like the stars aligned for me. So I decided to publish some short stories as my project, and the rest is history!

5, If you could have lunch with any three authors who would you choose and why?
I grew up reading John Marsden and Tamora Pierce and they are heroes of mine, they truly inspired me and I would become a complete fangirl around them. I'd love to have lunch with them. And in later years, Louise Rennison inspired me to embrace my funny. I think her books are hysterical and completely insane and I would love to meet the woman behind them.

6, What's next for you?
The Kiss Off 3: All Access Pass! And Dark Zones. And a sci-fi and a thriller that are still just in the ideas phases, but have been for a couple of years.

7, What do you think is the best and worst thing about being indie?
The best thing is that you have control over your own career, you can release books on your own schedule, be it fast or slow. The worst things about being an indie is that without deadlines and someone waiting on my manuscripts I don't work as fast as I wish I did. And the lack of a marketing and publicity team to field queries and requests, and source promotional opportunities is a downside, as well, instead I have to do all of that myself.

8, In 140 characters or less why should we read your books?
The characters in my books feel real, readers say they're like people you know, they're like your best friends; ordinary people in extraordinary situations and you're along for the ride.

9, Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?
Go out and meet other writers and people who share your passions and excitement for books and stories. It's so important to me having people around me who get it, and are just as excited as I am about telling good stories.

10, Is there anything you'd like to say to readers?
If you've read The Kiss Off or book two, Over It, thanks for taking a chance on these books. I hope you had fun, were entertained and laughed a bit. I appreciate your support. If romantic comedies with super-famous lead singer boyfriends doesn't sound like it's for you, that's cool, I hope you find books you DO love - and tell me what they are so I can read them too!

Flash Faves:

Dessert: Cheesecake

Book: Tomorrow when the war began by John Marsden

Place: Home, wherever that is. I move a lot, but  when I'm there, there's no place like it.
Book Character: Carter from Brent Crawford's Carter Finally Gets It series. And Poppy from The Kiss Off. I have a soft spot for her, too. :)
