Author Interview: KM Lowe #BelfastAuthorSigning

In March I'm attending the Titanic Belfast Author signing and as a way for me to get to know the authors attending I'm interviewing them weekly on A Bookish Redhead so take a seat and keep checking back every Thursday for a new Author Q&A!

Can you tell readers a bit about yourself?
Hi guys! My name is Kelly, but I write under the pen name of KM Lowe. I've been around the book world since 2013, but I published my first book in May 2014. I started writing paranormal romance, but shortly after I finished my first paranormal trilogy I jumped straight into contemporary romance. I've remained faithful to contemporary romance until this year, but now I'm releasing a four part shifter series. I  can't wait to share this series with you all. :-)

A little about me, I live in Scotland with my husband, two kids, and two dogs. I love anything to do with books, it's my escape from reality. Away from the book world, I love to use my hands with different crafts. I also love walking, because here in Scotland we have a lot of GREAT places to walk with the dogs. I haven't come across another country that does scenery like Scotland, it's beautiful and peaceful.

I have two strange obsessions...LOL! I love anything to do with pugs and mugs. Yes, I even have a real life pug, called Bella. She's a little spitfire and keeps me on my toes. The second obsession, I just like to collect mugs. I have that many with my books on now, but I still need to collect them. LOL I kind of drive my husband up the wall, because if it isn't books I'm buying, it's...MUGS! LOL!

Anyway, I think I've bored you enough, but if you want to know anything else jus ask me. I don't bite....all the time. 😊

Do you have any bookish news you can share with us?
I do! I always have bookish news. 😊

This year I have several books to publish. I have that many projects on the go that my head is now pickled. Forgive me if I get any of this mixed up, but you can keep up on my page -

On 1st March, I am publishing Lisa - Coming Of Age (Book 1 of The Guardian Shifters). This will be setting me up for a year long of writing and publishing. I am hoping to have the four books of this series published this year. I hate having a big gap between books in a series, so I will do everything I can to get them to you.

Lisa - Coming Of Age (Book 1 of The Guardian Shifters)
Jasper - United Together (Book 2 of The Guardian Shifters)
Kevin - Not GOT A SUBTITLE YET (Book 3 of The Guardian Shifters)
Joel - Alive and Kicking (Book 4 of The Guardian Shifters)

Also this year, I have a spin off releasing form my Burning Hearts Duet, called Burning Love. If you've read my fireman series you'll know that this is a very heart touching story with many emotional scenes. Well Burning Love is about another fireman from Burning Hearts, and his story has turned into a romantic suspense. I was hoping for a March release, but I don't have a date, yet.

So this year is going to be busy, but I like it that way. 😊

Can you tell us about your books?
All of my books deal with subjects that can happen in real life. I like to write about subjects that need some awareness, which means I write with emotion. Even the books I say won't make people cry some how still stir emotions. I write what I like to read; a good story, strong characters, and a happy ever after. However, I don't sugar coat things. Real life isn't sugar coated and I like to put my characters through their paces.

Also, each book I write has a very different story from the last. I'm one of these authors that would hate for readers to know what to expect before reading the book. Each one of my books is very different from the next, because I like to think out of the box. I think my readers now expect to be taking on an emotional rollercoaster, even though I never set out to. Blame my characters, because they lead the way. 😊

What's your favourite food to snack on whilst writing?
I would say crisps/chips. I am terrible for opening a share bag of crisps and before I know what I've done the bag is empty. However, I do usually have hard boiled sweets on my desk, that's something my mum would always have beside her and it has stuck with me.

Can you sum up your writing journey in 5 words?
Emotional. Chaotic. Amazing. Inspiring. Educational.

Are you currently working on anything atm? If yes, can you share anything with us?I am. I have several books I am working on. Apart from the five I've mentioned above, I have a couple of projects that I need to finish off. My last release was Home For Christmas, in December. It was supposed to be a stand alone novel, but my readers have spoken, the characters have spoken, and I'm writing book 2 of this seires called - Home For You. It's based on another character from the first book, who has been through so much. She's in a situation of does she follow her head or her heart? Either way, she has to forget the past and start a fresh in Montana.

What advice would you give to aspiring authors?
Never give up! Always follow your dreams. Never let anyone tell you that you can't do it. YES YOU CAN! This is a crazy world to be in, but it's one of the most rewarding jobs to have. I love the book community, it's a good place to be. Just let your creative juices flow and don't push it. Your story will develop better when you're not stressing or setting deadlines.

Where are you travelling from? Is there anything you’re looking forward to checking out?
I am travelling from Scotland. I am just looking forward to the full signing weekend. I am staying with a friend in Belfast, and I can't wait. I haven't been to Belfast before, so it's going to be one thing off my bucket list. I'm looking forward to meeting a lot of new authors, but also seeing authors I've come to know and love. It's going to be an epic weekend. I look forward to seeing all the readers and bloggers, too.

Book: I could go on and on with this one. I LOVE Archers Voice By Mia Sheridan. I also Adore The Hades Hangman Series by Tillie Cole. The HIS series by Sheila Kell...I need to stop. LOL.
Author (Yep just one!): Only one....KD Robichaux.
Country: Scotland
Flower: Lillies
Quote: Life's like a box of chocolates, you never know what you're going to get.
Fairytale: Cinderella. I love how it shows kids that ANYONE can find love. No matter what background you have, what you've done, everyone deserves to find their prince/princess.
