Neither of them expected to fall in love. But sometimes life has other plans.

When Wren realises her fiancé is in love with someone else, she thinks her heart will never recover.

On the other side of the world, Anders lost his wife four years ago and is still struggling to move on.

Wren hopes that spending the summer with her dad and step-family on their farm in Indiana will help her to heal. There, amid the cornfields and fireflies, she and Anders cross paths and their worlds are turned upside-down again.

But Wren does not know that Anders is harbouring a secret, and if he acts on any feelings he has for Wren it will have serious fall-out for everyone.

Walking away would hurt Wren more than she can imagine. But, knowing the truth, how can she possibly stay?

My Thoughts On Only Love Can Hurt Like This

Only Love Can Hurt Like This is another page-turner from the author. I crawl into each new release and completely lose myself amongst her characters.

This book was no different. Except for the biggest twist since Johnny Be Good when Meg’s listening to her song on the radio by a very particular rockstar at the end of the book.

Oh yes, Only Love Can Hurt Like This gave me a surprise, I was expecting something was coming but not in the way I was expecting it.

Wren and Anders are another couple being added to my Paige Toon favorites. Reading their love story unfolding amongst the pages brought those warm and fuzzy feelings to the surface with every scene.

It’s a slow burn for them with captivating looks and little moments sizzling between them but behind that the characters both have a lot of work to do for themselves.

As Wren forms a friendship with Anders and his brother Jonas, she decides to spend her time helping her dad and his wife out on their farm while rebuilding an Airstream she names Bambi including building a relationship with her sister.

From Anders fighting his guilt from the growing romantic feelings that are bubbling for Wren and keeping so much to himself, he can’t let her in.

Though Only Love Can Hurt Like This is a love story between Anders and Wren, Jonas is another character whose story is just as important. Mentions of his struggles with depression and family history are brought up in a way that is significant and relatable to those reading

In Paige Toon fashion when it comes to her motorsports vibes and past character mentions we were treated with the best as Anders being a race engineer and our very own Formal 1 World Champion Luis Castro got a mention.

Reading Paige Toon feels like coming home and wrapping myself up in a big comfort blanket. In every book the characters are likable and you go in fully expecting to have your heart broken but completely put together again before turning the last page.
