Happy Belfast Book Festival Week 2024!
The Belfast Book Festival Week comes around every year for one week featuring a host of conversations, workshops, and more with much-loved authors, poets, and literary lovers.
Every year they go all out to organise exciting and fun events to get readers and writers involved.
2022 was the last time I went to a Belfast Book Festival event for a conversation with Serena Terry A.K.A the hilarious Mammy Banter (who I’m seeing live this week in the SSE Arena for her All Tied Up stand-up tour.
It’ll be my second time seeing her live, and I’m looking forward to it.
This year for the Belfast Book Festival three events stood out to me which I’m excited about.
Jacqueline Wilson
Jacqueline Wilson is a well-known and much-loved household name. Through generations, her books have been there as girls and young people find themselves looking for books her name will always be one that’s recommended.
The Diamond Girls is my Jacqueline Wilson book, I feel like we all have one of her books that we call our book.
It’s the first one that introduced us to the author who may have stirred a love for reading. I still have my copy from all those years ago and at the start of the book there are space images. This is what got me into space then and a few years after that lead to me getting my first telescope.
Let’s not forget Tracy Beaker as well which was most likely on most TV’s around late afternoon every day which is all part of the author’s work.
Cecelia Ahern
Another event I’m excited about is Cecelia Ahern: In A Thousand Different Ways, In conversation with Sheena Wilkinson. I’ve been a fan of Cecelia Ahern for many years since first reading Where Rainbows End (now Love Rosie since the movie was released)
Diving into Cecelia Ahern’s books brings so much comfort as I love her stories. This will be my 4th or 5th time meeting her (I love getting books signed, what can I say) and I’m really excited as this will be a more informative event In A Thousand Different Ways.
Silent Book Club: Lit(Erature) To The Tit
Lit to the Tit is hosting two silent book clubs in connection with the Belfast Book Festival Week 2024 and this is one I cannot wait for as I love silent book clubs.
They are the perfect time for me to hold myself accountable to get some extra reading done within a busy schedule. I’ve been wanting to attend a Lit to the Tit event for months and I’m looking forward to finally going to one. Especially because it’s a silent bookclub.
Those are the three events I’m excited about this year although there are a whole host of events that are available on the Belfast Book Festival website.
