Author Interview: Kira Sinclair
Kira Sinclair is an award-winning author who writes powerful, passionate and sinfully seductive romances. Double winner of the National Readers’ Choice Award, her first foray into writing fiction was for a high school English assignment. Nothing could dampen her enthusiasm…not even being forced to read the love story aloud to the class. Although it definitely made her blush. Writing about striking, sexy men and passionate, determined women has always excited her. She lives out her own happily ever after with her amazing husband, their two beautiful daughters and a menagerie of animals on a small farm in North Alabama. ~ Can you share with readers a little about:
Yourself?
Uh…I never know how to answer questions like this. 🙂 I think my life is pretty boring so I usually draw a blank on interesting or funny things to say. I’m a wife, mother to two girls and a writer. I live on a small farm in North Alabama, although I am decidedly an inside cat kinda person. I like the outdoors…just prefer to enjoy it from behind a shiny window. But my husband and girls love living in the country so…here we are. I sold my first book in 2007 to Harlequin Blaze and haven’t looked back. I love my job and every day appreciate the readers who make it possible.
Your latest news book/author news?
In July the 2nd book in my Sweetheart, South Carolina series will be out – She’s No Angel. The 3rd – The Devil She Knows – will be released in September. I’ve had so much fun working on these books. The setting reminds me quite a bit of home. There’s also a strong group of women that carry through the series and they remind me so much of my own supportive friends that it’s been a joy to write them. And if things work out, I should be writing the 4th book in the series soon.

~ Name one highlight of your writing journey so far?
Being a double winner for the National Reader’s Choice Award
~ Where do you get most of your inspiration from?
I get inspiration from everywhere, but I’m a music girl. I use it to set the mood, wrap my head around a character or key into a specific emotion I need to convey.
~ What is it you like about writing romance?
The Happily Ever After. There’s enough drama and angst in the world. When I read I want to close the cover of a book with a smile on my face, possibly a tear in my eye and a sigh of happiness of my lips. And I want to give that to my readers as well.
~ Who is your favourite author and why?
Susan Elizabeth Phillips. Cause I want to be her when I grow up. Aside from being amazingly sweet, she’s also brilliantly talented. She writes humor like no one’s business and it’s a skill I seriously envy because I don’t possess it.
~ Out of the novels you’ve wrote which do you hold closest to your heart and why?
That’s like asking me which kid I love the best. 🙂 Usually, whatever book I’m working on at the time is the one I love the best. They all have their strengths and weaknesses, their highs and lows. Each project has stretched me and forced me to become a better writer so I’m grateful for them all.
~ What advice would you give to aspiring authors?
Write, write, write. Seriously. The only way you get better – the only way you figure out your voice and what makes you unique – is to write. Varied and often. Stretch yourself. Try something new. Try something that scares you. You might just find that’s exactly where you belong.
~ Is there anything specific you’d like to say to readers?
Thanks! Seriously, without the readers I wouldn’t be able to do what I do, and I love what I do. There’s nothing better than getting an email or chatting with a reader at an event.
