It was in the icy waters of the Bering Sea, far removed from television, radio and other distractions that Laurel first discovered her passion for writing. Although she did not have many free hours as a maritime cook, she spent little free time she did have conjuring up Lightfoot, Truffles and a host of other characters.
Like Professor Lightfoot,
Laurelās life experiences has given her a healthy respect for the eco-system and all living things; hence: Professor Lightfoot’s mantra, Leave only footprints.
As a mother to her young son Laurel had many expeditions of her own and she is drawing upon those experiences with Reese to give Professor Lightfoot the wisdom that children seem to possess that have long since escaped from us as adults!
