Breathing in September

Breathing in September, that’s my intention. If I close my eyes, take a deep breath through my nose, feel the nip of the cold, and exhale through my mouth. I feel hope.

Hope that September is the start of a relaxing month and Autumn. Summer is still technically here, and I’m clinging to that fact in the hope that I’ll still get at least one beach day this year.

But I’m slowly still breathing in September. I am not an Autumn person; the darker months, the cold, the creepy crawlies – I can well and truly say nah to that.

I’m trying, though, so I’m sharing the things helping me keep an open mind to Autumn…

Lyra Parish Books

I told my sister a few weeks ago that, for the first time in years, I was excited for Autumn, and it was because of Lyra Parish and her romance books. Flirty Fall Fling was just released and it’s about Patterson’s brother, Patterson who was in The Hockey Situation, and there’s also Fall I Want, which my sister just gave me her copy of! (Sprayed edges and everything!) To keep, that’s literally brand new, so I’m thankful that after Flirty Fall Fling, I have Fall I Want to dive into.

Decorating my home library/office

Emerald Book Reviews recently posted about decorating her home for Autumn, and it inspired me so much because this is the first year I not only have a home library/office to play with but a WHOLE DAMN HOUSE! I’m feeling so excited to create some crafty bits, hang some leaves, even perhaps some Autumnal tinsel, and just put things around my house that make me smile or feel good.

Crafting

I’ve been busy on Pinterest getting inspired for Autumnal crafts I can make and have even grabbed some bits from The Works. I’m also thinking of a little hedgy craft with a certain book…

Plans

I’m making plans! I have a craft day planned with my sister for October, and we have already agreed upon meeting every few weeks for a little catch-up over a hot chocolate. I’m already planning outfits and what to wear to try to make a little day of it and have some me time, as well as making the most of being out and recording possible content.

I’m also planning craft nights to make Christmas cards and gifts, nights where I just get lost in a romance book, or a puzzle night. I want to keep myself busy but in a relaxing, breathable busy way where my mind isn’t focused on health or work.

I don’t want to overwhelm myself with a lot of things happening at once, which is why I’m moving into Autumn at a speed I can manage. Spring and Summer are usually my go-to seasons and then I have Christmas and Spring again but this year I’m trying to be more gentle and enjoy every moment without rushing ahead.
